MidWest Internet Exchange (MidWest-IX), a progressive Internet Exchange (IX), announces the selection of Wintek Corporation (WINTEK) as a key transport provider to 350 Cermak in Chicago. By selecting Wintek, MidWest-IX is able to provide reliable and state-of-the-art Internet Exchange (IX) services between Indianapolis and Chicago.
According to Justin Wilson of MidWest-IX, Wintek allows us to provide low latency peering services utilizing one of the largest data centers in the world at 350 East Cermak in Chicago, Illinois. This allows our exchange members to connect to a large number of networks not otherwise available in many of the markets we are in.
Wintek Chief Operating Officer, Oliver Beers describes the reasoning for going to Chicago for peering, “While operating our diverse DWDM ring from Lafayette to Indianapolis is beneficial to our customers, there was a need to also get to large content providers like Apple, Google, Netflix, etc. By turning up a diverse 20Gb connection from our NOC in Lafayette to Chicago, we were able to accomplish this and provide our customers with lower latency and more efficient traffic to their destinations by having the opportunity to peer with many larger content providers that were not available in Indianapolis.
Wintek Corporation, formed in 1973 is a locally owned and operated fiber optics services company. Wintek offers data center, Internet backbone and data transport services over state of the art Ethernet, CDWM and DWDM facilities. While services are mostly focused in Tippecanoe and surrounding counties, Wintek can provide services in the state of Indiana and throughout the US via a network of national carrier partners.
