July 2016 update on the St Louis Regional Internet Exchange (STL-RIX)

Here’s an update from our partners in St. Louis.

Dear Friends of STL-RIX,

Hi! You’re receiving this message because you’ve expressed interest in the ongoing effort to establish an Internet exchange point (IXP) in St Louis.

It’s been a long time since our last update because we were waiting for the sale of the two buildings where a majority of the participants would like to see STL-RIX: 900 Walnut and 210 N. Tucker. We are pleased that the sale of the buildings closed recently, and both buildings will now be operated by Netrality Properties.

We had a great meeting with Netrality Properties staff this past Monday afternoon. During the meeting, we reached a verbal agreement to create an IX in their buildings and are already taking steps to formalize the agreement. We believe Netrality will be a great partner for the STL-RIX and that we will now quickly make progress toward getting our IX up and running and interconnecting networks in the St Louis region.

We’ll send out additional updates as we make progress. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to share your thoughts or to discuss how you can get involved.

Now that the sale has completed, we’re full steam ahead in working with our vendors and our partners to get things online as quickly as we can.
